Our story
OMEGACAP grew out of a very practical problem on a private house building project. Here's how a simple idea became a market ready product, step by step.
The problem on site
It started with the electrical installation of a private house build. Empty conduits had to be laid from the basement to the garage, and the cables then had to be pulled through. The first attempt was a trick from the internet: wrap the end of the cable with insulating tape into a taper, so it would slide through the pipe more easily.
The result was sobering. The tape held poorly, slipped while pushing, and barely made a difference. One thing was clear though: what was needed was something solid that slips onto the front of the cable. A kind of thimble for cables.
The first prototype
Why not simply try it? A small cap was printed on a 3D printer and fitted onto the end of a cable. The test was surprisingly positive: the cable could be pushed through the conduit far more easily than it could be pulled. The basic idea worked.
There's no such thing as "the one cable"
It quickly became clear that there's no such thing as "the one cable", but rather different conductor types, manufacturers, materials, diameters and tolerances.
A separate cap for every cable type would have been far too complicated. How great would a universal solution be? The idea of a multi purpose cap, the "Multicap", was born.
From sketch to patent
The key technical question: how can one cap fit different cable diameters and still hold securely without slipping off while pulling? The answer lay in the geometry: a conical, multi stage diameter compensation with a built in grip function. Step by step, the first hand drawn sketch became a proper technical construction drawing.
And before talking about it, showing it, or taking it outside, one thing had to be settled: protecting the intellectual property. The patent application secured the idea, and the patent has since been granted. Shortly after the application came a special recognition: the Artur Fischer Inventor Prize Baden-Württemberg.
Testing and refining
From here on it was mostly diligent, detailed work. Shapes were adjusted, geometries changed, details rethought again and again. Testing was pragmatic, using pull tests with dumbbell weights and a home built test course made from corrugated conduit set in concrete.
From prototype to injection mould
The cap's patented inner contour has undercuts, normally a case for complex, expensive slider mechanisms in the injection mould. The solution: design the cap with an open structure, no sliders needed at all. A side effect nobody had anticipated: the open design now lets you see directly whether the cable is inserted far enough.
Then came the material question: the right balance between glide and grip, tested across different cables, manufacturers and diameters.
A brand is born
Beyond the technical function, the product also needed a name. It had to be technical and memorable, and fit the product. OMEGACAP was born, along with its own logo and a well thought out packaging design. The brand was registered, and for the first time the product was visible beyond the workshop and construction site.
Shortly after, our own website went live: www.omegacap.de.
Amazon launch: first Germany, then Europe
The first sales channel was Amazon, initially only on the German marketplace. Later came the marketplaces in Belgium, France, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain, over time in more and more sizes and variants.
Social media as a booster
Once the sales channel was in place, people still had to notice it. Alongside Amazon and direct sales, we ventured onto unfamiliar territory and presented an electrical installation product on social media. We set up our own channels on Instagram and TikTok.
Our most successful video quickly reached over 8.7 million views, with a cable cap, as shown in the screenshot.
First trade fair: SHK+E Essen
In March 2026, OMEGACAP appeared at a trade fair for the first time: SHK+E in Essen, still a young brand. 55 conversations on the first day, consistently positive feedback, and a sentence we heard again and again: "Finally something new."
One moment stuck with us in particular: a visitor who already knew the product from TikTok and was already a customer. And an experienced tradesman who actually managed to pull the cable through our test rig without a cap, then turned around and said: What you've got there is simpler and faster. Genius.
Second trade fair: SPS Italia in Parma
The next step led beyond national borders to Italy, to SPS Italia in Parma. Many new contacts, in depth conversations, strong interest, and the experience that language barriers are quickly overcome with a good product, simply by demonstrating it.
We become OPNATIX GmbH
On September 7, 2026, we restructured: what came before is now OPNATIX GmbH. This bundles our OMEGACAP business activities under one roof, a solid foundation for what's next, at home and abroad.
And the story continues.
